What are the wetsuit rules for the Dock2Dock?

Modified on Sat, 25 Jul at 10:45 AM

Wetsuits are only compulsory for swimmers aged 12-16 and for other swimmers under certain conditions

  • The Organisers will monitor water temperatures in the lead up to the event. Should the water temperature drop below 15 degrees celsius, wetsuits will be compulsory for all participants unless agreed otherwise in advance with the Organisers.
  • A ‘skins pass’ application must be completed prior to the event for review by the events team and applicants will be notified accordingly. The skins application form will be distributed to relevant participants at least seven (7) days prior to the event.
  • Wetsuits will not be allowed should the water temperature rise above 24 degrees on the morning of the event.  This includes shortie wetsuits and neoprene swim shorts / vests.
  • Participants must choose wetsuit or skins category on their registration form. Changes can be made by the participant up until the closing date of the event, or otherwise communicated by the event organisers.
  • The wearing of any neoprene (including, but not limited to gloves, booties, shorts, sleeves) shall be considered ‘wetsuit’ category.

** The water temperature has never been below 15 degrees at the Dock2Dock

** The water temperature has been close to 24 degrees at the event but wetsuits have never been prohibited

** Swimmers may change from wetsuit to skins or skins to wetsuit when you collect your race pack at event registration
